    Education is indeed a sine qua non for deleovpment; according to the EFA Global Monitoring Report: Overcoming Inequality why Governance Matters? Broad based access to good quality basic education is the foundation to broad based economic growth and improved education is associated with lower levels of child mortality and better nutrition and health, there are also strong links between education, citizenship and informed decision making.For the developing nations to fully implement Education Policies, there is need to strengthen the links between education planning and poverty reduction. some of the main reasons why Sub-Saharan Africa still lags behind in education is because they are not addressing progress in poverty reduction, nutrition and public health.While significant progress has has been achieved in UPE, the policy-makers should renew and strengthen the Dakar commitment to quality in education and put in place the infrastructure, teachers support and monitoring programmes needed to deliver results. {Much still needs to be done}.Its so bad that 54% of children out of school are girls, Equity should be put squarely at the centre of the EFA goals; the circumstances into which children are born, their gender, the wealth of their parents, their language and the colour of their skin should not define educational opportunities.The Business as usual attitude of developing nations; weak political commitment, poor public policies and insufficient financial commitment cast the achievement of the six EFA goals by 2015 in doubt.
